Big Bull on my mind!
OMG! I never knew I would have this irresistible urge to write about the web series which I happened to recently watch, ‘Scam 1992- The Harshad Mehta Story’ on Sony Liv. Guys, don’t go by the title literally, I meant here ‘THE Pratik Gandhi on my mind’.I am totally in awe of the lead actor Pratik Gandhi. The 10-episode series is around the life of famed stockbroker Harshad Mehta who took the stock market to rapid heights and his disastrous downfall as a result of committing fraud.
I do not want to talk much about Harshad Mehta since I do not have much of background about the so-called stockbroker who turned out to be a scamster then. I must be in my pre-teens when India would have faced its first scam back in 1992 hence its all word of mouth or grapevine for me rather than the facts.
Nevertheless, I just can’t stop myself talking about talented Mr Gandhi and so well directed series. It is such a splendid show and a refreshing change from the world of violent, obscene and vulgar crime dramas that have dominated the web lately. If you have watched the web series, you would agree that Mr Gandhi absolutely nailed the character ‘The Big Bull’ in the most impressive way. The story of rags to riches in mere 10 years is just so impressive and all credit goes to the astute mindset of Mr Mehta or I should say Mr Gandhi (I don’t want to get trapped or trolled by getting into the politics of commenting on the deeds of Mr Mehta). Hence, I am happy to have all my accolades for Mr Gandhi, who stole the show!
He was portrayed much more than a stockbroker; a son, a brother, a husband, a father and a responsible member of his family. And not to forget the cheeky metaphors, ‘Risk and Ishq’, ‘Chinta and Chita’, ‘Khelna and Pelna’ and so on. Last but not least not to be missed theme song, it is so scintillating!
Mr, Gandhi’s screen presence is so much so that you can’t get enough of him. (If my husband happens to read this, Sony Liv will surely loose one of its subscribers). I do not want to get into the technicalities of the stock market and the financial system depicted in the series, there are loads of financial journalists analysing the same. However, I just wanted to talk about the character, his infectious smile and his mannerism is a treat to watch on screen.
In fact, I would want to say that all the characters in the series are just so outstanding and well suited for their respective roles. So everyone associated with the series deserves applause. This is “Not to be Missed”.
